Privacy Policy

Last updated 9 October 2026

This page explains what information FamTwig keeps, why we use it, and the choices you have.

Your family tree is private unless you choose to share it.

1. About FamTwig

FamTwig is a family tree service based in India.

If you have a privacy question or request, contact us at famtwig01@gmail.com.

2. What we keep

When you use FamTwig, we may keep the following information.

Your account

Your name, email address and account settings.

If you sign in with Google, Google may provide basic account information such as your name and email.

If you use a password, we do not store it in readable form.

You may also add things such as a profile photo and time zone.

Your family tree

We store the people, relationships, dates, places, notes and profile photos that you or people helping with the tree add.

A family tree may include information about relatives who do not have a FamTwig account.

Tree activity

We may keep a history of changes so you can see who changed something and recover from mistakes.

Sharing and collaboration

We keep information needed to manage:

  • private sharing links;
  • access settings;
  • collaborator invitations; and
  • who can view or edit a tree.

Security information

We may keep information such as your IP address, browser, device and sign-in activity to help protect accounts and prevent misuse.

Payments

If you buy a paid plan, we keep basic information about your plan and subscription status.

Paddle processes your payment.

FamTwig does not receive or store your full card number.

3. Why we use your information

We use your information to:

  • provide your FamTwig account;
  • create and store your family trees;
  • let you share and collaborate with family members;
  • send sign-in, password reset and security emails;
  • send invitations;
  • send reminders if you turn them on;
  • protect FamTwig from fraud, abuse and security problems;
  • manage paid subscriptions;
  • keep records when required by law; and
  • understand how FamTwig is used if you agree to optional analytics.

We only use your information for purposes related to operating and improving FamTwig.

4. Information about your relatives

FamTwig allows you to create family trees that contain information about other people.

Please only add information and photos that you have the right to use or share.

Take extra care when adding information about living people and children.

If you appear in someone else’s FamTwig tree and want information about you corrected or removed, you can contact the tree owner or contact us.

We may ask for enough information to confirm your identity and locate the relevant tree.

5. Photos

FamTwig currently uses photos mainly as profile photos for people in a family tree.

Photos are kept private and are only shown through the permissions of the family tree they belong to.

When you delete a photo, it is removed from the active service.

Temporary backup copies may remain until those backups expire.

If FamTwig reduces image size or removes location information before storing photos, we may do this to improve privacy and storage efficiency.

6. Sharing your tree

Your tree is private by default.

You can create private sharing links that let other people view parts of your tree.

Private links may require an access code.

Anyone who has the link and access code may be able to view the information shared through that link.

Only share private links and access codes with people you trust.

You can disable a sharing link at any time.

People invited as collaborators need their own FamTwig account.

Depending on their permission, collaborators may be able to add or change information in the tree.

You can remove a collaborator’s access.

7. Usage statistics

If you agree, FamTwig may use PostHog to understand how people use the product.

For example, we may record events such as:

  • someone created a tree;
  • someone added a person;
  • someone used an export feature.

We do not intentionally send family names, family-tree notes, profile photos or the contents of your family tree to PostHog for analytics.

If you decline optional analytics, those analytics are not loaded.

You can change your analytics choice in Settings.

PostHog data is processed using our configured PostHog hosting region.

We may update this Privacy Policy as FamTwig changes.

When we do, we will update the date at the top.

If we make an important change to how we use personal information, we will provide reasonable notice through FamTwig, by email, or both where appropriate.
